Kensington, a treat for the senses
If you are looking for a place in Toronto that isn’t condo mecca. A place where gentrification hasn’t fully taken hold, then you must visit Kensington Market. I have been coming to Kensington got years! I love its rustic character, vintage shops and culture. I just love coming here and visiting places like House of Spice. Its the only place I can find great tasting spices like Mexican ancho chili, Ethiopian berbere and other spices that don’t taste like chemical concoctions. Its a sight for the senses
If spices don’t percolate your senses, then head on over to International Herbs Co for your incense, sage, black soap and other feel-good smells! The owner is friendly and I have been coming here for years. Its one of the few places left in Toronto where you can buy loose variety incense sticks. I just love stocking up!
Kensington, being one of the most diverse places in Toronto, has plenty of food choices to satisfy your cravings. Great churros, West Indian Food, Mexican, gluten free options are all there for the taking. I must admit, I have ate my share of churros and empanadas.
So much to see as well, you can just people watch or take selfies in front of the Kensington garden car.
Lastly, if you are feeling nostalgic or into army gear, there are plenty of vintage clothing shops to satisfy your desire to indulge in the fashion of yesterday
